About Us
Paula Carroll Teacher Hi I’m Paula, I am married to my amazing husband Pete, who has been the other half of me since we met at school at the ripe old age of 14. We have 2 wonderful children Ben & Alicia. Ben was born on Mother’s Day and the first day of summer in 1990. Alicia was born on our wedding anniversary the following year. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with them, their partners and our extended family. We have a second home in the Northern Lakes where we enjoy fell walking; in 2013 we completed the last of the Wainwrights. Our other hobbies include supporting Everton, attending music events and learning Spanish. I came to yoga as many people do through personal injury. For a number of years I struggled with periformis syndrome caused by herniated discs resulting in lower back pain. I knew that all of the driving, working in the job I loved as a key account manager, with a leading healthcare company, wasn’t helping with my back issues. In 2012 I accepted voluntary redundancy. Up to that point yoga was an occasional hobby. I now had the opportunity to build yoga into my daily life and I started practicing yoga to the point where yoga has made my back pain a distant memory. Along the way I have become stronger physically and mentally. Yoga calms anxiety which has improved my life enormously, it has also allowed me to let go of things, which in the past I held onto. I have worked in the medical industry for over 25 years. Pete and I now work together and are co-owners & Directors of Medezine Ltd, although I escape as much as possible for all things yoga. My medical experience is a valuable asset as a yoga teacher with lots of previous anatomy & physiology and mental health training. I enrolled on TYB BWY Foundation course in Feb 2017 with Jackie Quayle. I enjoyed it so much I joined the TYB IYN 200hr course with Jackie the following year. As soon as I qualified I wanted to share the gift of yoga with everyone, including my fellow volunteers at The Peace Centre in Warrington, I have never felt so fulfilled. I now have my own weekly Peace Yoga classes in Burtonwood, St Helens and Greystoke in Cumbria. I am also Shirley’s understudy for her Chair yoga group which is so rewarding. I enjoy teaching Hatha yoga with variations and modifications making it accessible to all. My favourite theme is The Chakras, which usually get a mention at some point in most of my classes. It’s really important to me that everyone feels included and welcome. I have made many wonderful friends through yoga, who bring love and light into my life. I want everyone to experience the joy and benefits yoga can bring. The rewards for me have been endless.
